Laptops live harder lives than desktops. They get dropped, sat on, carried through the rain and treated to the occasional cup of coffee, and every part is packed into a case a couple of centimetres thick. At our West Kensington drop-off and our main workshop in SE1 we deal with both kinds of trouble: the damage you can see and the internal faults you can’t.
Repairs we carry out
- Screen repair and replacement
- DC power jack repair and replacement
- Keyboard repair and replacement
- Battery replacement
- Liquid damage cleaning and repair
- Motherboard repair and replacement
- Hard drive upgrade and replacement
- Operating system installation and upgrade
The power jack deserves a mention, because people often assume the worst. It is the socket the charger plugs into, and after a few years of being tugged sideways it works loose from the board. The usual sign is a laptop that only charges when the plug is held at a certain angle. That is a repair, not a reason to buy a new laptop.
Screens are the other everyday job. A cracked panel can’t be mended, so we fit a new one matched to your model. Batteries that last twenty minutes, keyboards with dead keys and hard drives that have slowed to a crawl are all straightforward swaps.
Spilled something on it? Switch the laptop off, unplug the charger and leave it off. Corrosion carries on working long after the liquid has dried, so the sooner we see it the better.
Brands we repair
We work on hardware and software faults across all the main brands. Eight of them have their own page, covering the model ranges and the faults we see on each: Dell, Alienware, Acer, Asus, MSI, Microsoft Surface, Toshiba and dynabook.
We also repair Lenovo, HP, Sony VAIO, Razer Blade, Compaq, Advent, eMachines, Panasonic, Gateway, Packard Bell, Sager, Patriot and Fujitsu Siemens machines. Apple laptops are covered on our MacBook repair page.
How long it takes
A diagnosis normally takes no more than 24 hours. Simple faults, such as a screen, keyboard or battery swap, are usually fixed the same day. Board-level repairs and liquid damage are more involved and tend to take a day or two. We’ll give you a realistic timescale along with the quote, so you can plan around it.

Bring it in, or we come to you
You can drop your laptop in at 68A North End Road, W14 9EP. If that is awkward, we collect from homes and offices and return the laptop when it is done, free of charge. A technician can also carry out the repair at your home or workplace, with no call-out charge, and customers further afield can use our mail-in repair service.
Parts, guarantee and your data
We use genuine parts wherever possible. All work is guaranteed, and the warranty covers the parts we fit.
Your files matter more than the machine, and we treat them that way. If a laptop reaches us with a failed drive, or won’t start at all, we can work on getting the data off as well as fixing the machine. Our laptop data recovery page explains how that works, and there is no charge if the data can’t be recovered.
